"Just 30 years ago, when I first became involved with health insurance, there was one Blue Cross/Blue Shield plan and one HMO (CHP) in the area. As late as 1986 you could buy a family plan with excellent coverage for less than $100 per month. Now there are literally hundreds of plan options from dozens of companies with some family plan rates in excess of $2,000 per month. The resources and technology necessary to design, manage and control the cost of benefit plans in this environment are simply beyond the means of many employers. Assuming this burden for you is what we do best, while allowing you to do what you do best."

President's Focus

Company President, John Johnson, has 30 years of experience in the employee benefits field beginning as Director of Labor Relations and Personnel for Rensselaer County in the late 70's. He next spent five years as Vice President at POMCO.

In 1985 John founded Benetech, Inc., one of the areas premier employee benefits firms, and served as its first President. In 1997 he formed Capital Benefits Consulting in order to provide a more personal level of consulting services to a manageable number of clients.

This breadth of experience in working with dozens of employers and plan sponsors over the years has given John a unique insight into the needs of employers and the various constraints they operate under. While one may benefit most from a self funded arrangement, another may need the security of a community rated pool.

A long term focus has been on the use of technology to streamline the administrative burden of managing diverse benefit plans. John has found that many employers are hesitant to assume the added work and costs necessary to offer their employees a broader range of choices and options. By assuming some of those duties while using advanced technology platforms, Capital Benefits allows clients to focus on their core missions.
